Two more Orators broke the ice at the club’s final meeting of 2012.

New member Jennifer Sjolund gave her maiden speech entitled ‘Being wordish’, while fellow new Orators Rachael Cooper-Bohannon  used the old adage of ‘Never let the truth get in the way of a good story’ as her theme.  Both received the customary and well deserved standing ovations for their efforts.

Jack Marshall who joined the Orators following the recent Speechcraft course gave his second speech entitled ‘Thoughts, words and actions’.

The speech evaluators were Jane Cameron, Eoin McDunphy and Gillian Flint, with Andy Price reviewing the meeting as general evaluator.  Matt McGregor was timekeeper and Cath Smith counted the pauses as ‘ah-counter’.

Lee Stevenson ran a festive themed Table Topics session based around Christmas number 1’s which was evaluated and reviewed by Medha de Alwis.

Special thanks went to guest and former member Sheila Fraser who stepped into the breach as Toastmaster following work commitments and illness to those designated to the role.  Her help was much appreciated.

The first meeting of 2013 is on Wednesday January 9 at 7pm at the Falkirk and District Association for Mental Health offices, the Victoria Centre, 173 Victoria Road, Falkirk FK2 7AU.
