Area 60 continues to grow and flourish with Stirling Speakers launching last October and developing well.

In November we were extremely proud to have been represented at the District 71 contest finals in Sheffield by James McGinty of Central Toastmasters (3rd in the Humorous Speech Contest) and Sabine Munro of Glasgow Toastmasters (2nd in the Table Topics Contest).

We had more reasons to be proud when a D71 District Director’s award from Michael Collins went to Gerry Dunn, DTM, of Glasgow Toastmasters.  He received the award for outstanding service and exceptional leadership by the taking on Division S Directorship part way through the 2016-17 year, knowing that there would be no official recognition from Toastmasters International.  In Scotland we know how much time Gerry gives to his fellow Toastmasters and it’s great to see this acknowledged at District level.

With all of the good work going on, we want to let more people know about and benefit from Toastmasters.  As a result, our clubs in Central and West Scotland will be opening the doors of Toastmasters in a joint event on Monday 5th February in Glasgow.  We want to raise the profile of Toastmasters in our Area and give guests a flavour of what the organisation does.

We have chosen a neutral location that none of our Clubs currently use which will give all of our Clubs the opportunity to let people know about where we are, when we meet and what we do.
